Make YouTube safer for kids

A simple search reveals that YouTube currently has more than 65,000 video cartoons for the children “Mickey Mouse” and 56,000 videos “Tom and Jerry”. With that much data, it will be difficult if not impossible, for anyone to search for similar videos that are sold in stores or look in the library unless you get it only through YouTube.

But the problem is, not all YouTube videos like the above data directly related to the film in question. In other words, not all videos from YouTube 100% appropriate for consumption by children.

Children, and many parents will agree, enough slang current technology. They may be too ignorant to read or write but they still can easily operate the site like YouTube (which displays thumbnail images) without the need for help from their parents.

That’s probably a good problem, but the dipermsalahkan is that not all content available on YouTube-friendly as a reference site for kids. They could have inadvertently pointed to the pictures that interest them that might lead to content that should not to consume the children.

Luckily, Google has added a new security screening on YouTube, which when turned on, will automatically hide the video is not for children from viewing sites. To activate this security mode, please go to YouTube.com and scroll the mouse down to the bottom of the site and note the link on the left that says “Safety mode is off”.

Simply click the link then the security mode is active. This not only will block videos containing adult content, but also a video that has pictures and graphical ads that contain elements of violence disappear from view.

Thanks this is great info. An additional tool to help keep our kids safe is a browser add-on that we developed to redirect kids away from videos that contain profanity. Read more about it at http://www.wagworx.com/articles.html
